Also, the 100 series guitars were very lightly braced. . The Yamaha serial number identification site doesn't recognise it but I gather that is not unusual. The 7 digit serial numbers are sequential, they have nothing to do with when the guitar is made. The last three numbers indicate unit number.

I think your best bet would be to message Yamaha with your serial number and ask them. Just picked up one of these, put on some new strings, and man, it sounds great. Laminate is a wooden board in the case of guitars consisting of 2 or more layers glued and pressed together with the direction of the grain in the same direction. The inside will be different, even though it looks like solid wood. Because there is only 1 number representing the year, there are possible duplicates using this system.
